Louis Walsh has just wrapped a successful series of the X Factor, where he returned as a judge on the singing competition. Now however, the Mayo native has set his sights on a project much closer to the hearts of the people of Ireland.
The music mogul, who is responsible for bands such as Westlife and Jedward, is now getting behind Team Ireland for this year’s Eurovision song contest. With his backing come a number of changes, such as the abolishment of the national song contest.
Nicky Byrne represented Ireland in last year’s competition, and unfortunately was not successful, so it was decided that a change was needed.
An RTE source has revealed that an act has already been chosen and Louis will reveal who it is on tonight’s Late Late Show.
In the past Ireland has been extremely successful in the song contest, with memorable winners such as Linda Martin and Johnny Logan, who were both managed by Louis Walsh. Maybe this will lead to another winning streak for us?
