Lottie Ryan has admitted she struggles with mixed emotions when it comes to spending time away from her baby boy Wolf.
The mum-of-one is preparing for a girls’ trip with her mother and sister-in-law. but while the break is ‘well-needed’, the Dubliner still feels “nerves” and “a little bit sad to leave him.”
As she told followers on Instagram: “I’m going away with my mum and my sister-in-law for a well-needed break, just to clear the mind and relax. I really need a full night’s sleep, like I really cannot stress it enough. But there is still this part of me, I’m like ‘I’m gonna miss my baby so much.'”
“It’s only for one night but I’m nervous, I’m a little bit sad to leave him. It’s just the most opposing emotions. It’s like you’re craving a few cocktails and a lie-in but I want my [baby].”
The 37-year-old also admitted that the experience has completely changed her perspective.
Saying: “It just makes you re-think how you used to speak to new parents before you had a kid and were a parent yourself. Because I would have thought ‘what’s wrong with them? Like why don’t they want to just go away and get the break? The kid’s gonna be there when the get home.'”
“But it’s impossible to describe, it’s like losing your arm, it’s that kind of an attachment, even if it’s only for one night. It’s just the weirdest, opposing feelings.”
“Do you ever get used to that? I’m sure you do, but I’m still in the phase where it’s like your heart is torn. Like I need to do this for me, just to go away for the night, but I also don’t want to miss a night with him.”
The broadcaster is used to discussing parenting on social media, but she also takes on the topic on her podcast Jen & Lottie do… Parenting, with Jennifer Zamparelli.
Which completed its first season earlier this year, and will be returning for a second installment soon.
With Lottie confirming the news to fans, saying: “People were like ‘when is season two? when is season two?’ Which makes me so happy, people are eager for season two.”
“Season two is coming guys, you won’t have to wait too long. We’re working on it at the moment, myself and Jen are in the process of putting season two together. So as soon as I can tell you more I will, but don’t worry, it is on the way.”
