Lionel Richie has revealed that he can’t wait to experience the enthusiasm of the Irish fans when he plays the Punchestown Festival later this month.
The international superstar told Ryan Tubridy on his Radio One show that he always looks forward to returning to our Emerald Isle because we have the most energetic fans around.
“There is nothing better than the crowd who likes to sing while I’m singing and Irish people, they love singing,” he enthused.
“I always say to other performers, ‘If you ever wanna go and take a break in the middle of the show go to [Ireland]’, the crowd might just take over the show and keep going.”
However, Lionel went on to warn festival-goers that they’ll more than likely hear each other singing rather than the ‘Hello’ star himself.
He told Ryan: “Prepare yourselves… I know that many of the people are coming there to hear me sing but make sure you meet the person to your left, to your right and the person behind you and in front of you because they’re the ones who are going to be singing louder than me. I hope you like the group you’re with!”
Lionel will be performing at the festival alongside Shane Filan, Corinne Bailey Rae, Sister Sledge, Albert Hammond and many more.
The Punchestown Festival will take place July 23rd, 2016 tickets are priced at €69.50 including booking fee.
