RTE star Ryan Tubridy has opened up about his possible future career plans, admitting that The Late Late may not always be his vocation.
Chatting candidly to Sunday Times Culture magazine about his life thus far and where he sees himself in time to come, he said:
“I’m 48 years old and, as I get a little older, I think there’s more to come”
“It won’t be RTE forever. I will hit a point where I think I’ve got something else in me.”
Going on to say he has no timeline for the life pivot, Ryan added:
“I’m not sure what it is yet. Not for a few years, but it will happen”
While the 48-year-old had fun in the past filling in for Terry Wogan, Graham Norton and Chris Evans on BBC Radio 2, Ryan admits that a permanent move to the UK to pursue a career there is off the cards as it means he would have to leave his two daughters behind.
“I was never going to let career trump my job as a father,” he said. “I love them too much to be that far away from them for too long”
What exactly is in store for Ryan next, he has shared that he would like to write more books and create documentaries, but as he admitted above, that won’t be for ‘a few years’.
For now, we can look forward to having Ryan on our screens this year for the annual Late Late Toy Show, which is set to be bigger and better than ever, airing this Friday the 26th of November.
