Liam Nesson has lent his name to a cause that’s very close to home. The Ballymena native has teamed up with the Integrated Education Fund, to create a video in an effort to ease religious tensions in Northern Irish schools.

The 64-year-old understands the issue all too well, having grown up as a Catholic in the largely Protestant area of Antrim.

Although there are 65 integrated schools in Northern Ireland so far, the Taken star wants to do what he can to ease sectarianism even more, by involving parents in the process.

In the video Liam says, “We look to our children for the future, so why do we continue to educate them apart — different religions, different backgrounds, different schools?

“There is another way. Protestants and Catholics, other beliefs and none, learning and working together every day.

“Most people agree that educating children together is a better way forward for our society. It’s time to turn our aspiration into reality, to believe in your children and believe in their future.

“You, the parents, can help begin the process of integrating your school,” he said.
