Colin Farrell and Liam Neeson are set to star alongside one another in upcoming thriller flick, Widows. The film is also set to feature Oscar-winning actress Viola Davis and Fast and Furious star Michelle Rodriguez.
Widows is based on a 1980s ITV series of the same name, written by author Lynda La Plante. It was about three armed robbers that die during the seizure of a security van in London’s Kingsway Tunnel.
Their widows, Shirly, Dolly and Linda, then find the plans of the robbery and decide to carry it out themselves, with the help of a fourth woman named Bella.
They succeed in their mission to steal the money, only to discover that Shirly’s husband had survived the incident and wants his share of the cash.
According to Variety the film was thought up by Steve McQueen, who directed 12 Years A Slave, and Gone Girl creator Gillian Flynn.
The website also revealed that Liam’s character will mirror other roles he’s played in films such as Gangs of New York and Batman Begins. Colin however, will play the part of a politician that finds himself caught up in the widows’ plan.
