Liam Neeson has admitted that reprising his role in rom-com, Love Actually made him reflect on his wife Natasha Richardson’s tragic death.
The Irish actor reunited with the cast of the hit film for the UK’s Red Nose Day last week, and although he was delighted to help out with such a worthy cause, he admitted it was difficult taking up the role of widower Daniel once more, as his character’s life now bares a striking resemblance to his own.
When he filmed the original version of the movie he was head over heels in love with his wife Natasha, but just six years after the film was first released she sadly passed away.
The talented actress died suddenly following a skiing accident in 2009, leaving behind her devoted husband Liam and their two sons, Daniel and Micheal.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the Star Wars actor said it was difficult for him to revisit Love Actually, following the untimely deaths of his co-star Alan Rickman and his beloved wife Natasha.
“Some of us have died. Oh, my dear old friend [Alan Rickman]. God rest him. Some have gotten divorced. I’ve lost my wife.” he said.
“Plenty of times I’ve thought about this film and my own life. Love Actually, that’s the way it is. That’s the tapestry of life.”
