Dating show Survival of the Fittest has been axed after just one season.
The show presented by Laura Whitmore saw contestants battle physical and mental challenges on a daily basis, but with a dating show twist.
However, the programme which promised to be winter’s Love Island is no more.
Filming in the South African savannah proved too expensive to keep up.
“It was a good show but naturally expensive and ambitious in its scale,” a source told The Sun’s Bizarre column.
“Shooting it in South Africa inevitably comes with a cost and unfortunately, execs at ITV couldn’t justify a second series. But ITV have got some brilliant things lined up on ITV2 for next year.”
Dani Dyer was originally part of the show but had to drop out due to injury, the reality star later went on to win Love Island with Jack Fincham.
