TV Presenter Laura Whitmore has opened up about dealing with online trolls and hate in her line of work.
The Bray woman stared out her career presenting MTV news, and has gone on to co-host ITV’s I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here NOW!, and she says she has had to deal with her fair share of negativity.
“I was doing a podcast with the comedian Roisin Conaty and we were talking about Twitter and how you deal with negativity,” she told Fabulous Magazine.
“I said I just ignored it, and Roisin was like, ‘Oh no, I tell them to f**k off!’ “It was a bit of a light-bulb moment for me.
“I mean, that’s genius! I thought, ‘Maybe I should say it to them too.’ So I do, and do you know what? It’s quite therapeutic and cathartic.
“It takes them by surprise, I think. They’re just not expecting that from me.”
The 33-year-old recently revealed that she will be heading up an exciting radio slot, as she takes on The Sunday Session on BBC Radio 5 Live.
The description of the show reads: “Laura and big-name guests settle in, kick back and chew over everything that’s caught their imaginations over the week.”
We can’t wait to hear Laura on the airwaves!
