Just when we’re back to the daily grind, Laura Whitmore is all packed up for some sunshine to host the new season of Love Island; “Last minute packing….all the essentials…Cape Town here I come!”
The presenter and Bray native posted a picture on Instagram this morning of her Love Island suitcase with plenty of sunglasses and of course her Love Island water bottle in tow.
This year we will have two seasons of Love Island, so don’t worry we wills till have a summer one which is usually shot in Mallorca, Spain. As this season is on during the winter months, the contestants will be flying to Cape Town for some sun instead.
Needless to say we are delighted to see an Irish host presenting the hit show, and many had correctly guessed it would be her after Caroline flack announced she was stepping down.
Whitmore shared the exciting news on Instagram alongside a picture of her own monogrammed, Love Island water bottle; “To say I’m excited to be heading to Cape Town to host Love Island, the biggest show on television, is an understatement.”
Whitmore did go on to express how she felt about Flack leaving the show, after being it’s host for five years; “I want to thank ITV for trusting me at the helm of this huge show.
“I wish it was in better circumstances; Caroline is a brilliant host and friend. We’ve spoken a lot in the last few days since she stepped down. She has been very kind to me and strongly pushed me for this role. I’ve watched her host every series and know I have big boots to fill. I will try and do it justice.”
The new season starts this Sunday, January 12 on ITV2. Exactly what we needed to fight the January blues.
