Tv presenter Laura Whitmore has opened up about her split from long term love, Coronas front man Danny O’Reilly.
The pair were together for two years on and off, deciding to split full time in 2012. The I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here star has remained silent up until now on her heartbreak, but she has finally admitted how difficult the break up was.
“That was really, really hard. And I went through that massive break-up while I was doing live tv on the other side of the world,|” she said. “People could write about it, people could guess about it, and at the end of the day I was just a girl who was really hurt.”
Laura explained to the Irish Independent that it can be difficult going through personal issues while in the public eye. She explained that she likes to keep her private life just for her and those close to her.
“I don’t like talking about things, as you know, with personal stuff, because it is no-one else’s business. That’s what my friends are for,” she said.
On the whole, the Wicklow native is on good terms with Danny and the pair remain friends, but she admitted that it can be awkward moving on because she is constantly asked about her past relationship.
“It’s a bit weird, because I’m actually good friends with Danny, shockingly. It was hard if you are going out with someone new and they put a picture of who you used to go out with. That’s a bit weird and awkward”
Laura is currently dating Sunset Sons rocker Rory William, and recently flew into Paris on route to Australia for 24 hours so she could spend time with him.
The 30-year-old will spend the next month in Oz working on Get Me Out of Here Now, the spin-off show of the popular reality programme.
