Larry Gogan has revealed that Larry Mullen Jr from U2 went to a special effort to ensure he would see them perform.
The radio show host and DJ is a massive fan of the Irish rock band and feared he’d miss the gig.
U2’s drummer Larry Mullen arranged VIP passes for the DJ and brought him and his daughter Grainne up to his private box.
Gogan, who is now 79, is using a wheelchair and suffering from arthritis.
“I had the most incredible time,” the radio presenter told The Irish Sun.
“Larry’s family are the most lovely, beautiful people and I got to watch the whole concert with them.”
The former Golden Hour host got a surprise last week when he was invited by U2 to come to the massive show.
“Because of the arthritis, my walking isn’t great but, give U2 their due, Larry made sure I didn’t have to walk anywhere and I was brought up in a lift to the box.”
Gogan added that Larry is a gentleman and said that he is ‘down to earth’.
“He had the right upbringing and he’s a lovely fella as a result.”
He added that the concert was one of the best U2 gigs he’s seen.
“I’m a huge U2 fan going back to the ’70s. Those four lads on stage is all you want.”
