The second episode of Celebrity Operation Transformation aired on RTE One last night, and all contestants impressed by going down on the scales.
During last night’s episode participants Katherine Lynch, Brenda Donohue and Elaine Crowley got involved with various park run’s around the country to get Irish citizens of all ages out and moving on a Saturday morning.
Katherine hit the pavement in Lough Key with trainer Karl Henry and was very proud of herself as she completed her very first five kilometre run.
“Couch to 5k in two weeks, and I’m so proud of myself actually,” she said.
Although she was delighted with her achievement, one woman made Katherine very emotional, and understandably so.
The comedian became a household name through her fictional character Bernie Walsh, but on last night’s programme she met the real Bernie Walsh, and she discovered that her hilarious alter ego helped in a big way.
Speaking to Katherine after completing the run Bernie said, “Eight years ago I went through chemotherapy in Sligo, and the girls in oncology when I came in it was always ‘Bernie Walsh, Bernie Walsh.’
“And do you know every single day that Bernie Walsh, even though it’s my name, gave me such a lift. And you didn’t know it, but you brought me through that chemo.”
Katherine was so happy that she could have helped this woman though an incredibly difficult time in her life, calling it a very “powerful moment.”
“I’m delighted that that lady shared her story with me about her experience with chemo and that was really really a powerful moment for me,” she said.
