Julian Simmons has made his final on-screen broadcast as a continuity announcer for UTV. The presenter has worked at the station for 11 years.
The Belfast native is well known for his funny and cheeky introductions before popular soap Coronation Street, making the impending plot lines even more dramatic.
Although this is the last time we will see Julian on our screens, his voice will still be heard on UTV. Despite that though he still left viewers in style, wearing a tuxedo and dickie bow for his final appearance.
BBC broadcaster Stephen Nolan wrote of the much-loved presenter’s departure in Saturday’s Belfast Telegraph saying that he will be sorely missed.
“Julian Simmons has been part of the lives of our grandparents, our parents, you and your children. And yet he will present his last shift in vision as a continuity presenter this weekend. We are not losing him altogether, we will hear his voice but we won’t see him.
“And with that one decision, I, as a viewer, lose so much. Julian is part of our family in Northern Ireland, he is one of us and just like a relative, it is reassuring to see him,” he said.
We’ll miss you Julian. Here are some of his best on-screen moments:
