Following his departure from the show in 2017, Johnny Ward made his return to Carrigstown last night, as the show celebrated its 30th birthday.
Last time we saw Johnny’s character Ciaran Holloway, he had been stabbed before falling into Dun Laoghaire harbour, and viewers were left wondering if he survived the attack or not.
Well that was certainly answered last night, as the bad boy arrived back in Carrigstown!
After learning his sister Tessa is alive and well, he rushes to see her – and figures he has to explain a few things to Katy, who he held hostage for over a year.
Speaking about his return, actor Johnny Ward told TVNow, “Ciaran buys a local newspaper and there’s a picture of Tessa baking a cake with Dean. His jaw drops and he realises she has been alive the whole time.
“Of course, the whole reason he kidnapped Katy was because he thought Emmet had mentally tortured his sister Tessa into committing suicide and Ciaran wanted revenge.”
With any soap, things don’t go as smoothly as Ciaran may have hoped, and there’ll be plenty of drama in store for the character over the coming weeks.
“There are loads of misfortunate events ahead for Ciaran,” he said.
“He ends up in a really sticky situation!”
We can’t wait to see how this unfolds! Catch Fair City at 8pm on RTE One.
