Emily Barker and Johnny Ward went public with their romance just three months ago, having met on Dancing With the Stars.
The pair became friends on the show last year, and despite not winning they were second in the competition every week until the finale.
There had been rumours of their relationship for some time but the couple confirmed the rumours three months ago sharing; “Towards the end of last year, things developed between us, and we are now very happy together. We are looking forward to seeing what the future holds.”
However, it seems their romance has come to an end as Johnny Ward spoke to The Mirror. The Fair City actor shared that; “The thing with myself and Emily, it was a bit blown out of all proportion.”
“We went to an event last April as friends and just because my own relationship had broken down, people had put two and two together and got 2000.”
He went on to say that the relationship had felt forced because of the public eye on the pair;
“And yes, stuff happened and when we did the DWTS tour it was great but it was like this relationship was forced upon us.
“In DWTS Jesus, you are asked to do crazy things, to make out things are going on between you and your partner because it is a reality TV show as much as a dance contest.”
He also mentioned his ex-girlfriend, whom he was with for six and a half years, and that he was very; “conscious of hurting people […] seeing all these stories and it wasn’t true.”
“We were friends and something happened but there was never any real commitment.”
It seems he has no regrets about the relationship, he mentioned that with the filming of the latest season they didn’t really get to see much of eachother;
“We were never living together; she was there through a time of my life but people get obsessed with this Strictly Curse.”
“Look I don’t forget her; she was a great support for me but she has her goals and I have mine and that is the way it is now and I wish her good luck.”
