John and Edward Grimes, AKA Jedward, have opened up about the death of their mum Susanna, who sadly passed away last February after battling cancer for a number of years.
The twins, who also have another brother named Kevin, revealed they were with her during her final moments, and held her close as died.
Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on the Late Late Show, Edward said, “We were there when she passed and we are thankful that we were able to hold her hand.
“We had some earphones listening to some music. We listened to some Fleetwood Mac and some of her favourite songs that she liked to play.”
They revealed it’ll be incredibly tough growing up without her around, and it makes them sad to think about the events and milestone moments they won’t be able to share with Susanna.
John told Ryan, “It’s very disheartening to think that she won’t be at our weddings, she won’t be there at the birth of our kids, but we always keep her spirit alive like have pictures of her around and tell stories.
“You just feel so disconnected to the world because the person that kept you anchored in the world and gave birth to you is gone and now you don’t know where you should be, what you should be doing.”
At the time of her passing the Irish twins took to social media to share a lengthy tribute to their mother, speaking about her life and what she meant to them.
“She was a loving mom and always there in our lives and gave us the space to find ourselves in the world and will always be a part of our life and our future in everything that we do,” they wrote.
“You were not only our mom but the core to the whole family. People who knew you personally as a friend respected your loyalty and presence.
“We can still hear you talking in our thoughts saying good night John, good night Edward, good night Kevin. We will always admire you for your honesty and love.
“Every song we created and all the projects were from your vision and heart. Mammy you will always be our best friend and your genuine goodness will be missed. You had an endless joy for life.”
They continued, “Everyone knew you had a luminous quality of thoughtfulness and selflessness. You never wanted anyone to know the suffering you were going through and for them to only see the smile on your face.
“Today is not just a goodbye but a celebration of a great person for making us smile, for looking after us all and brightening our life.
“You will be missed to infinity. Thinking of you always, John, Edward and Kevin your three sons.”
