Joe Duffy will be getting his own TV show as filming gets underway for a six-part series called “Call Back”.
The show will be based on revisiting some of the most memorable callers who phoned into the Joe Duffy Live Line over the last number of years.
Speaking to Dave Fanning this morning, Joe said: “I’ve been pushing the idea for few years now… Its day has come, we’re making a six part series. We made a pilot, showed it to the powers that be and they liked it.”
The idea for the show stemmed after the radio host noticed the amount of listeners who approached him asking what happened to certain callers after they hung up.
“It’s a simple thing, people were always stopping me asking ‘What happened…what happened the family of..” he said.
Considering the sheer volume of calls made into the show, it’s unlikely that they will run out of interesting people to feature on the new programme.
“We have quite a few stories, Liveline is on 5 days a week, 51 weeks a year, 75 mins a day, totally live, there’s an inordinate number of stories, Joe said, “We’re staying with personal stories. Liveline has always been and will always be about the strength of its human stories.”
The pilot has already been made and it’s anticipated that the show will air for the six weeks leading up to Christmas.
