We all love Joanne McNally, from her stand up tour to her podcast with Vogue Williams, she’s a national treasure.
And now she has a new project that sounds very exciting.
She announced on Instagram that she has a new six-part podcast with BBC Sounds.
The series ‘Who Replaced Avril Lavigne’ investigates the well-known conspiracy theory in the world of pop culture that the Canadian Singer-Songwriter died in 2003 and was replaced with someone to carry out her career.

Announcing the show, the BCC Media Centre said: “Avril Lavigne struck a chord with her rebellious teen angst in the early aughts, and she still performs to sold-out crowds to this day. But what if the Avril we’ve been following all these years is not the same Avril we fell in love with? What if – as a curious theory claims – Avril was replaced by a lookalike at the height of her fame?
“In Who Replaced Avril Lavigne?, which launches with episode 0 today (28 February), comedian Joanne McNally searches far and wide, from Avril’s hometown to the underbelly of the internet, to find out if the rumours are true. Along the way, she immerses herself in a mind-bending world of fake celebrity deaths, doppelgangers, conspiracy theories, and downright absurdity.”
The Comedian is no stranger to the world of podcasts with her and co host Vogue Williams’ viral podcast ‘My Therapist Ghosted Me’ reaching over 3.5 million listeners per month.
Speaking on her new podcast on Instagram in true Joanne style, the comedian said, “I’ve finally found my way into light (diet) conspiracy theories and I’m thrilled. Next series I’ll be canoeing out to the horizon to see if I fall off.”
The first episode of ‘Who Replaced Avril Lavigne’ is out next Wednesday and we cannot wait to hear Joannes take on this comical conspiracy theory.
