Jess Redden has shared an emotional post today on how she approaches grieving. Today is the pharmacist and fitness influencers birthday, which is always a more difficult time after losing someone you love.
Last September Jess’ father sadly passed away and she has been consistently candid and honest in speaking about her grief online, helping others come to terms with their own loss.
Sharing a gorgeous snap with her Dad from her 25th birthday she opened up about her difficult it is to spend her birthday without him.
She said; “All the firsts feel impossible and just when you think you’ve composed yourself it hits you like a hurricane, all week I’ve been feeling off and that’s okay and valid – there’s no textbook or guide to help you navigate the black hole that is grief , my advice so far is to enjoy the good moments as there is still so many to come and embrace, but importantly to give yourself time and space to feel whatever it is you need to feel.”
“As always thank you for the love, kindness and support – the world needs more of it,” she added.
This isn’t the first time Jess has opened up about her loss, she was previously a guest on Brian Dowling’s podcast, Death Becomes him.
Speaking with Brian she shared that the grief comes in waves and she’s found it incredibly overwhelming at times; “He only passed away five months ago so I’m still in denial, yeah.”
“Even still when people say, ‘I’m so sorry to hear about your dad’ I have this concrete wall up and I’m like, ‘I’m fine’. So sometimes it is like people say, it’s like the ocean; calm one minute and the next it’s just every cell in your body is just overcome with it.”
