UTV Ireland has hit out at rumours that it copied Xpose with its new showbiz programme The Pulse.
Jenny Buckley is the face of the new three-minute bulletin which takes place on Fridays at 5.25 p.m and the first one took place last week.
Almost immediately after it aired, tv critics were quick to point out the similarities between the backdrops and colour schemes of the two light entertainment programmes.
There did seem to be something a bit similar between the two sets which are both red and white with a large screen in the background, but a UTV spokesperson has denied the claims.
“The Pulse set is a design which was created by our in-house creative team and we are delighted with the result”, they said.
Adding “in terms of set comparisons, the team looked to numerous international entertainment programme models for inspiration…We are extremely pleased with the response”.
A TV3 spokesperson wasn’t as convinced and offered up the following: “It’s only natural that other broadcasters are going to want to replicate it’s (Xpose’s) success in some way. It’s very flattering.”
Jenny Buckley joined UTV Ireland in December 2014 and has been busy on her feet since then. She’s the broadcaster’s weatherwoman since January of this year.
While she began her career acting on stage and on screen, adopting many different roles, including ‘The Woman Who Walked into Doors’ and ‘Tara Road’, in 2006 she set her sights on presenting.
Speaking about the launch of The Pulse, the bubbly blonde described the show as “ a new fun and informative entertainment bulletin to bring viewers up-to-date on all the latest developments from the world of showbiz.”
