Actor Jamie Dornan has opened up about his fame in Ireland, or more so how he doesn’t talk about his fame while in Ireland as he would get a ‘hard time’ if he was seen ‘achieving too much’.
Speaking to US chat show host Jimmy Kimmel, Jamie recently said that he’s not a “returning hero” back in Ireland.
“It’s funny you know, I think anyone from the whole island of Ireland, we’re quite uncomfortable with success.
“You don’t want to be seen to be achieving too much, it doesn’t look well,” he shared.
“There’s a bit of like ‘Who does he think he is going off to America and doing well’. You’re sort of embarrassed by your own success, and you can’t talk about it too much.
“I would get a bit of a hard time if I started going ‘I was on Jimmy Kimmel the other night’, you know what I mean? I can’t talk about it.”
Jamie is currently starring in the new movie title ‘Belfast’, based on the life of one family in Belfast during the Troubles, in which he also showcases his musical talents.
Previously, he explained how he was a reluctant singer but is now more comfortable with it. While speaking to Jimmy Kimmel, he shared that he’ll have no albums or record deals under his name:
“That’s the sort of thing, being where I come from, is a big no no.
“’Hey lads I’m releasing an album’…no.”
