It’s been a great 2016 so far for Northern Irish actor James Nesbitt, star of TV shows Cold Feet and Murphy’s Law, and recently all three movies of The Hobbit. He was recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours List, being granted an OBE.
And then, seemingly out of the blue, he was chosen to present soccer’s most prestigious awards ceremony, the Ballon D’Or, which took place in Zurich, Switzerland, this evening, along with Sky Sports News presenter Kate Abdo. The decision obviously surprise Nesbitt as much as anyone, who commented “You’ve got Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar… then there’s me, who used to play for Broughshane Boys’ Brigade.”
Even more surprising perhaps, certainly to the millions of people following the awards on social media, was the small matter of what was on top of James’ head. Once upon a time, Nesbitt’s hair used to look like this…
A few years ago, Nesbitt admitted that he had a hair transplant in order to grow back some of his fading locks. Nothing wrong with that, many people do it, and at least Jimmy was honest about it, which ended up with him looking like this…
Tonight, however, his hair seemed to have taken on a life of its own, with something approaching a healthy soccer pitch now covering his crown…
