Una Healy has revealed that she constantly monitors her daughter’s use of technology over safety fears.
The singer revealed that although her daughter Aoife Belle is only six, she is very fond of YouTube and other apps.
“Aoife is obsessed with technology, so she picks up the phone… anyone that has WhatsApp she uses it, she bullies the grandparents into it,” she joked.
“She’ll take the phone so when I see ‘Daddy’ lighting up, or ‘Dee sis’ I know that’s Aoife video calling me and texting me with loads of emojis and all this.”
Una, who recently brought out her own shoe collection, explains that the younger generation’s fascination with technology is all new to her.
“When I was six, I wouldn’t have known that stuff… well it didn’t exist so it’s a whole new world.”
The star revealed she takes precautionary measures to ensure her little girl is safe online.
“I’ve blocked her from being on adult YouTube so she can only go on Kids YouTube and I’ve enabled all the settings so that no adult content can come through because god knows who she could be speaking to, you have to keep an eye on things.”
“She has got an iPad but I’ve got all the blocks in place because you never know what might filter through, so I’m constantly looking through everything and I watch her while she’s on it, it’s obviously a huge responsibility of mine to maintain that, and to protect her because it’s scary.”
Una spoke to VIP Magazine at the launch of her new shoe range Una Healy Original Collection and admitted that it was hard to keep the exciting project a secret.
“I’ve been working on it for the past 12 months and I haven’t said a word about it to anyone, some of the shops had started stocking them and people were messaging me asking ‘what’s this about’ and I couldn’t say a thing.”
