It has been revealed Ivan Yates will leave The Tonight Show on Virgin Media, as well as Newstalk at the end of this month.
Yesterday afternoon it was announced that he’d be stepping away from his radio show to move back to Wexford with his wife, however at the time, his future in Virgin Media was unclear.
According to the Irish Daily Mirror, a memo sent to Newstalk staff read: “I am writing to inform you that Ivan Yates will be stepping down from his role as presenter of The Hard Shoulder at the end of the month.”

It has since come to light that he’ll also be finishing up on The Tonight Show, which he has fronted with Matt Cooper since September 2017.
A spokesperson for Virgin Media One told The Sun, “Ivan Yates has announced his retirement and will present his last show on Virgin Media One with Matt Cooper on Thursday 23rd July at 10pm.”
His Newstalk replacement is set to be announced over the summer, however there’s been no word on who’ll take over his spot on The Tonight Show.
