A Father Ted musical could be on its way to a theatre near you, according to writer Graham Linehan.
The hilarious comedy sketch show never fails to strike a laugh has stood the test of time. The last episode was filmed in 1998, and still Father Ted is aired on RTE and Chanel 4 weekly.
Speaking to the Sunday Business Post Graham Linehan revealed that he would certainly be up for reviving the show in musical form, but there would have to be a number of alterations made to their original scripts.
“I think there is an argument you could make a Ted musical where you really go for the jugular and you get all the things people loved about it, all the innocence and all the sweetness, but introduce a harder edge.
“It would have to be about Ted becoming Pope, or some weird succession thing that means Ted’s next in line. It would have to be substantial and big,” he said.
We would most definitely be on board for seeing ‘My Lovely Horse’ performed live on stage!
