Nicky Byrne could be set to make his debut on the silver screen in an upcoming film about soccer star Jamie Vardy.
The former Westlife singer has been lined up to play the role of a goalkeeper, while One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has been rumoured to be playing Jamie himself.
Filmaker Adrian Butchart told The Sun newspaper that he would like Nicky to play goalie Kasper Schmeichel in the movie, and VIP have reached out to Nicky’s team, who have said it would definitely be a fitting role for him.
A spokesperson for Nicky told VIP Magazine, “His name is in the mix for loads of things, and I suppose it’s an easy one to have his name attached as he actually was a pro footballer!”
The news of this comes following Soccer Aid, where a number of celebs expressed an interest in partaking in the film. But Nicky has the backing of ex-Manchester United player Peter Schmeichal, after he saw his goal keeping skills during the charity football match.
“Peter Schmeichel was at the event and at first expressed some doubts at the idea of Nicky playing his son.
“But after he had seen video footage on a phone of Nicky going through his goalkeeping routines I think the big man was won over,” Adrian revealed.
We can’t wait to see this!
