Jamie Dornan’s new film, Siege of Jadotville, is set to premiere at the 28th Galway Film Fleadh, this July.
The hotly-anticipated film, which was produced by Netflix, is a highlight at this year’s festival, which kicks off on July 5th.
It’s a historical drama that tells the story of the Irish UN battalion that underwent a siege during the 1961 disturbances in the Congo.
Organisers of the Film Fleadh, Gar O’Brian and Miriam Allen, are very excited to be premiering the film and worked hard to get it there.
“It took a lot of blood, sweat and tears to get it.
“There is a great connection with Ireland in that story. And a lot of people connected with it are living here and in Athlone. It’s a cracking historical action film,” the pair told the Irish Times.
Other highlights of this year’s event are Bobby Sands: 66 days, and Kit Harrington’s Property of the State.
Irish actress, Ruth Negga will also be in Galway attending an acting masterclass, and director Jim Sheridan will be speaking to film fans.
It’s unknown just yet if Jamie Dornan will attend the premiere but we live in hope!
