Boyzone are reportedly in talks for making a tv documentary about their career to mark 25 years of the band.
It was revealed today that the boyband members are keen to make a documentary similar to ‘Take That: For the Record’.
A source told the Irish Daily Star that the programme will feature the band’s rise to fame, success, longevity and the loss of their bandmate Stephen Gately who passed away in 2009.
“The lads have the potential to deliver a fascinating documentary about their rise, success, world tours, Stephen’s death, comebacks and staying together. The template was set by Take That, who did similar show in 2005 before reforming.
“It was not only compelling viewing, but reignited their appeal. For Ronan there is no other option, the 25th will be a huge deal and may be the last major milestone for them to celebrate in style,” the source said.
Ronan Keating, Boyzone’s frontman, is adamant on celebrating their 25th anniversary in a big way.
Last year he told BANG Showbiz that himself, Keith, Shane and Mikey would mark the occasion in a major way, and that Stephen would be honoured in it.
“I love touring with Boyzone, I love being with the lads. We celebrate 25 years as a group next year, so we’ll definitely mark that in some shape or form. The four of us have started talking, we don’t know if it’s going to be a tour or an album. I expect it will be a bit of both.
“When the four of us are together we always feel like he’s on the stage. It’s very important to us that we keep his memory alive like that, and he’ll be a big part of the 25-year anniversary for sure,” he said.
We look forward to seeing this.
