Irish singer Aimée opens up about ‘constant abuse’ online about her weight

Irish singer, Aimée has shared an emotional post on her Instagram to do with ‘constant abuse’ she receives online about her weight. Sharing how upsetting this is with her followers she said;

“Can people stop talking about my body and my weight please. I cant believe that this is even a f*cking conversation in 2020. It’s disgusting.”

“I’ve had issues with this subject since I was a kid so this is extremely upsetting and triggering for me.”

“I have always shown nothing but my absolute true natural self on here. In the hopes that I’m inspiring other young girls that to be successful you don’t have to fit a mold that society puts you in.”

“For weeks I have been getting constant abuse for this subject. I don’t wear baggy clothes to “hide” or “lie” to people about my size? I f*cking wear baggy clothes so people don’t feel the need to talk bout my body! Yet here we are.”

“My heart is beating, my legs are working and I’m alive. That’s all that should matter.”

“Be a f*cking good person.”

As a role model for so many young women it’s particularly brave for Aimée to speak out about this topic. With most of us comparing ourselves to what and who we see online it’s so important to see diversity in every aspect of the people we follow from weight, height, race and sexuality.

However it shouldn’t be down to women like Aimée to be forced to deal with this. In particular she asked her fans not to send her comments they see written about her online as it is easier for her to not know they are out there;

“please don’t send m the comments & messages you’re seeing online. I’m not any of these sites and otherwise would’t see them. I know you’re intentions are good, but I deliberately stay away from them sites for a reason.

Thank you for your love x.”
