Blind Date host, Cilla Black, passed away in her Spanish home this weekend, aged 72, and a whole heap of Irish celebrities have taken a moment to express their thoughts about the legendary presenter.
Leading the pack of Irish celebs who are posting their tributes is TV presenter and fashion guru Brendan Courtney, who wrote an emotional message about the woman who he worked with on his first ITV job.
Taking to Facebook, Brendan said, “My first ITV gig was presenting the final two series of ITV’s Blind Date with the fabulous Cilla Black. She was a delight, kind, playful and always fun. She always made a point of making me feel welcome.”
He continued, “I would fly over every week to host the show, which amused her greatly. On the night she resigned live on our only ever ‘live broadcast’ (and much to the total shock of the execs), I was with her in the lift on the way to studio and she turned to me and said, ‘I’m gonna rattle some cages tonight kid, don’t miss it’ – how AMAZING.”
To conclude his tribute to the late presenter, Brendan wrote, “Thank you Ms Black. You gave me amazing memories and beautiful inspiration. Love you.”
Since the sad news was announced this morning, a whole host of Irish celebrities have posted similar messages:
Vogue Williams said, “So sad to hear about Cilla Black, what a legend…”
Rosanna Davison posted, “RIP Cilla Black. Blind Date was such a TV highlight of the week growing up! She’ll be very much missed.”
While Ronan Keating said, “Saddened to hear about the passing of Cilla Black. A true showbiz legend.”
Our thoughts are with her family at this difficult time.
