Irish rock band The Stypes have announced that they are calling it quits after seven years together.
The Blue Collar Jane singers took to Twitter to share a handwritten note announcing the news.
Looking back on their time in the band the Cavan lads reminisced about the highs and lows.
“Over the past 7 years we have played in toilets and theatres, in cafes and castles from Scotshouse to Tokyo and back again.
We’ve been in bedrooms and buses, plans, trains and automobiles. We’ve been on telly, radio and on record,” they said.
“It’s been fun and exciting, dull and dangerous, easy, tough, frustrating, satisfying and amazing. It’s been a life and a living. But we’ve decided to call time on The Strypes.
Thank you all. See you in the next cartoon!
Ross, Josh, Rete and Ev.”
Fans and followers were sad to hear the news, with many of them sharing their own memories on the band.
“I’ve seen well over 600 live gigs and you guys were up there with the best of them,” Gerry Gill said.
“Thank you for everything. You guys taught me a REAL music. I will never forget your tremendously amazing, exciting performances,” Twitter user Tomomi added.
Mark Speller added: “Oh what a shame. Thanks for the brilliant albums and all of the live shows I’ve managed to see you at, it’s been a blast.”
