Former Irish ‘Bond Girl’ Alison Doody has opened up about her life, and admits that money doesn’t really buy happiness.
The mum of two daughters, Alanna and Lauren, has has enjoyed a luxurious life following her success in a number of Hollywood blockbusters, but has explained that money should never be the most important thing in life.
Speaking to the Sunday Independent, Alison said, “I have had it all. I have flown on private jets. I have had the great fortune of being able to go to wonderful places and do lots of shopping in places like Brown Thomas, but that is not what it’s all about.”
She continued, “I say it to my girls. It is not about wealth. You cannot buy happiness. And I know it’s cliche to say it, I say to to my two children every single day, I would much rather them meet somebody who is going to look after them and mind them and be a friend to them and a great partner.”
She has been linked to some of Ireland’s most eligible men, including millionaire Gavin O’Reilly and businessman Tadhg Geary, but has admitted that she hasn’t met her ‘soul mate’ yet and doesn’t think she ever will.
“It has to be a friendship. I want to be able to spend time with someone and enjoy their company. I have been very fortunate as I have been with some very lovely men in my life and they have been great to me and I have had a very enjoyable time with them, but for one reason or another it hasn’t worked out,” she said.
Alison concluded, “I’ve never really had my heart fully broken. I would like to have that great love. I don’t think I have met my soul mate, and maybe I never will.”
The actress also said that she wouldn’t be against marriage in the future, but doesn’t plan on getting hitched anytime soon.
