Irish actor Calam Lynch cast in the second season of Bridgerton

Irish actor Calam Lynch has just been cast in the upcoming second season of Bridgerton.

No stranger to a tv or movie set, Calam has already featured in Derry Girls, Dunkirk and Disney’s Black Beauty.

Now, he’s set to take on the role of Theo Sharpe in the hit Netflix period drama.

Theo is a hardworking printer’s assistant. But he’s not just a working class man, he’s also an intellectual who fights for the rights for all.

Calam is one of the four brand new recruits, alongside Charithra Chandran, Shelley Conn and Rupert Young.

Charithra Chandran will play Edwina Sharma in the show. Edwina has been taught by her older sister Kate to be the perfect debutante.

She’s kind-natured and endlessly endearing. But while she may be young and naive, she also knows what she wants: a true love match.

Shelley Conn will play Mary Sharma. An Earl’s daughter whose marriage to a tradesman once embroiled her family in scandal, Lady Mary has now returned to London with her own daughters and is forced to endure the scrutiny of the ton yet again.

Finally Rupert Young will play Jack. Jack is the newest member of the ton with a connection to one of its most notable families.

Following the show’s launch in late 2020, it became the highest rated programme on Netflix, with 82 million streams in only 30 days.

With such success, it was no surprise the period drama was given the green light for a second season.

While there’s no air date yet, filming is set to begin imminently. Watch this space!
