Ireland and Australia have made a deal in a bid to win the Eurovision

The people of Ireland were delighted this week to see that we had gotten through to the finals of the Eurovision.

Ryan O’Shaughnessy’s Together secured us a place in the final for the first time in five years.

However, some fans have little hope for victory because of the lack of votes we get from our neighbours – just one of the struggles on being an Island!

Another contestant who seems to get a raw deal is Australia (maybe it’s because they are not part of Europe and we can never quite understand why they are in the competition).

But did you know that if Australia did win, which the bookies say could be likely, they cannot host because they’re not in Europe?

With this in mind, Australia and Ireland have come up with a great plan.

FM104 presenters Jim Jim and Nobby are in cahoots with Australian radio presenters Kyle and Jackie O in a bid for us to both do well.

“If you win and we hope you do, you could suggest us at the host for next year,” Jim Nugent suggested.

In return, Ireland will vote for Australia and vice versa.

Fool-proof plan if you ask us!

Check out the treaty below:

At one point, the Australian radio hosts even get in touch with Foreign Minister Julie Bishop for her seal of approval.

“I’ve been warning our embassy in Dublin that Kyle and Jackie have now taken over treaty negotiations between Australia and Ireland.”

“I’m all for fairness, but you better make sure we win this thing,” she joked.
