No matter what time of the day it is, it’s always a good time for waffles! These oat waffles are quick and easy to make and can be dressed up with the toppings of your choice. Just note, you’ll need a waffle maker or mould to make them.
Ingredients:
Serves 4
- 80g porridge oats
- 100ml skimmed milk
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 4 eggs
- 3 tbsp sweetener or zero-calorie syrup 1⁄2 tsp ground cinnamon
- Low-calorie spray oil
Method:
- Put the oats, milk, baking powder, eggs, sweetener and cinnamon in a blender and give it a good blitz until you have a smooth batter.
- Preheat your waffle iron and give it a light spray with the oil. Pour in the mixture up to the lip – be careful not overfill as it will overflow out of the sides when you close the lid.
- Leave for 6–7 minutes until the mixture is cooked through and the outside is crisp. All appliances will vary so just keep an eye on the waffles.
- Remove the first batch and repeat until the mixture is used up (you’ll have quite a lot of batter so you’ll be making a few batches). It’s a good idea to warm the oven to about 160°C so you can keep the cooked waffles warm while you make the rest.
- We love to serve ours with super-crispy smoked bacon bits and a cheeky drizzle of maple syrup! Divine.
