Imelda May has officially confirmed that RTE will not be bringing her show back for another series.
After months of speculation over the show’s future, the songstress has revealed that RTE do not have the resources to commission another series of The Imelda May Show.
The Liberties native told The Star that RTE can no longer fund her show due to costing issues.
She said, “It has been cancelled on me this year.
“They said there is no funds because obviously they have to pay for all the bands, their flights and hotels.
“And things were mad for me. I was wondering when I was going to get the time to do it.”
A RTE spokesperson told The Irish Mirror that despite their fondness for the show, it’s no longer feasible to run, “We love the Imelda May Show however we weren’t in a position to commission the series this year.”
The Imelda May show used to take the place of The Late Late Show when it went off air for the summer but now Nathan Carter will be filling the gap with his own five part series.
Although we can’t wait for Nathan’s show we’re definitely going to miss Imelda on our screens.
