Imelda May has sadly announced the death of her father, Tony Clabby.
Tony was 91 and was predeceased by his wife and Imelda’s mother, Madge, who passed away in November 2021.
The singer paid tribute to her father in a touching tribute which she shared to her Instagram earlier this week.
“Our dearest father Tony Clabby has passed away on this fine day, the 12th day of Christmas, Nollaig na mBán, Little Christmas, the Epihany, and the day of the Kings,” she wrote.

“After three sacred days of gathering, holding, laughing, accepting, harmonising and loving he passed gently.”
“We are heartbroken but truly grateful,” she added.
“More than anyone I’ve ever met, Dad was pure LOVE.”
“As he said himself only hours ago, he’s had a great time, it’s time to go easy, it’s time to go to Madge. And true love lives forever.”
Imelda then thanked the staff at St. James Hospital in Dublin for looking after her father, labelling them all as “angels”.
In another post which was shared on Instagram, Imelda couldn’t help but share with her followers some of her father’s traits that she will miss the most.
Adding: “I honestly never met anyone who loved life more. He didn’t dwell on the past or worry for the future. He lived for every joyous moment. He really loved meeting people.”
