Una Healy has landed a new presenting role in the UK.
The Tipperary native will host a breakfast radio show each weekend – and can’t wait to take to the airwaves next month.
“I’m so excited to be the new Saturday breakfast presenter at Country Hits UK – the UK’s first ever national country music radio station,” she said.
“When you look at the success of artists such as The Shires and Ward Thomas as well as huge events like Country 2 Country, it’s clear there’s a real audience for country music in the UK.
“It’s a genre I’ve fallen in love with and it’s thrilling that it now has a home in Country Hits Radio. I can’t wait to get started.”
It’s a been a very big day for radio news, as RTE 2FM have also announced massive shake-up.
Jennifer Zamparelli has landed her very own radio show, while both Nicky Byrne and Jenny Greene are leaving the station.
Jenny is stepping away entirely after 12 years, while Nicky is simply taking a break to focus on Westlife’s reunion.
In a touching tribute to his co-host, Nicky said, “I will miss everybody at 2FM terribly especially Jenny with her radio wisdom nerves of steel and a cracking sense of humour.
“I don’t remember a day I didn’t laugh out loud as we nattered our way through the mornings!
“I also really couldn’t have wished for a better Captain to have learned under, she taught me so much through the years and was inspirational in me picking up a Radio PPI award for Best Newcomer in 2014.
“Jenny is, as Tina Turner once said, ‘Simply The Best’. I am sad to see her leave 2FM and I can only wish her love and happiness and the absolute best in all her future endeavours.
“We’ve had laughs n’ tears, snow n’ storms and wins and losses. But we lived to tell the tale. Thank you for the memories.”
