Eoghan McDermott has opened up about his friendship with Ed Sheeran, admitting that fame never changed his pal.
The 2FM star has seen his friend’s success sky-rocket, and still gets surprised when people fangirl over his buddy.
“I’ve seen him go through the ranks,” Eoghan tells our sister publication TVNow Magazine. “I guess I know him outside of the stardom thing, so it’s strange to see other people’s reaction to him and people do get outrageously excited.”
While over in Dublin recently, the Galway Girl singer co-presented Eoghan’s radio show. The 2FM host impressed his bosses with the move, but their friendship is something he would “never oversell.”
“It definitely got me brownie points, for sure,” he said. “I worked for a few worked for a London radio station for a few years before Ed was the famous Ed shear that everyone knows, and we played a lot of his mix tapes.
“He came in as a singer-songwriter so we just got to know each other before his life went a little bit mental. We kept in touch. I asked him to record Thinking Out Loud in Irish last year, and he did, which was so lovely.”
