How to thrive not just survive during the long evenings

It’s that dreaded time of year. Tan lines from our summer getaways are fading by the minute and the clocks are set to fall back in the next few weeks.

The transition from the summer into winter can be a difficult one and it is harder to stay motivated in the colder seasons. We get it. To help, we have come up with a few tips to make the most of the next few months and help everyone feel like their best selves.

So how can we thrive during the longer evenings?

Soak up the sunshine

To make the most out of each day we suggest getting up earlier to get the maximum amount of daylight as possible. This can have a significant impact on your mood each day as daylight is a fundamental source of vitamin D.

You might also want to consider taking a vitamin D supplement to ensure you are getting your daily intake. Waking up at the same time each day will also allow you to have a more structured start to your morning. Which is bound to start your day in the right direction.

Clearing out and organising your wardrobe is a must as we enter into a new season. It’s time to put away those sun dresses and tank tops.

Why not try selling some old treasures on “Depop” or “Vinted”, not only is it good for the environment but you can also make yourself a bit of money.

Remember good quality pictures and lighting go a long way! An organised closet can be a huge help in creating a nice outfit efficiently in the morning and as we know when you love your outfit you feel ten times more productive!

Creating a capsule wardrobe for the colder seasons will make getting ready in the morning much easier. Find a few basics that you can switch and pair with each other and you will have endless outfits in your wardrobe.

Get those steps in

One of the most effective ways to gather your thoughts and clear your mind is by going on a walk. A daily ‘Hot Girl Walk’ should be essential in everybody’s routine.

Not only do you get your steps in and some fresh air but a walk on the beach at sunset is truly bliss. Throw on your favourite podcast or an upbeat playlist and you will be good to go!

Book a class

It is hard to know how to fill up your evenings during this time of year. Why not pick up a fitness class? These are one way to stay active during the cooler months as you get to stay inside.

You will also meet new people, therefore it’s a fantastic way to stay social. Spin classes and pilates have become very popular over the last few years and most gyms around the country have several classes throughout the day so you can choose what best suits your schedule.

Be your own best friend

Remember to be kind to yourself, while being productive and looking after your well-being is amazing it’s not always possible and life does get in the way. However simple habits go a long way and implementing a few of these into your daily routine will hopefully make life a little easier.
