As makeup trends come and go, the classic smokey eye remains a popular choice among makeup experts and novices alike.
While many people find the look tricky for fear they will end up looking like their mascara has run, it can be easily achieved.
Inglot’s Aimee Conroy has put together five easy steps to ensure you achieve the perfect smokey eye.
1. Eyeshadow base
Start with a concealer to ensure you have a blank canvas to work on.
Inglot’s Under Eye Concealer works as a perfect eyeshadow base and primer for the lid which ensures to keep your shadows more vibrant.
2. Apply light then dark shadow
Start with the lightest shadow all over your lid blending into the crease up toward to the browbone.
Apply your darkest shade closest to the lashline blend upward onto the lid to fuse with the lighter shade.
3. Blend
A smokey eye should be soft, so use Inglot’s 46ss fluffy blending brush to blend out any harsh edges. This is a best seller and one of Inglot’s best blending brushes.
4. Define
Build up darker colours and add Inglot’s 63 black freedom eyeshadow (€6) to the outer corner of the eye for definition. Make sure to blend this evenly so as not to have any harsh edges.
5. Line it up
Add Inglot’s AMC Gel liner in shade 77 ( black ) to the waterline and smoke out with 63 freedom black eyeshadow… This will turn your eye look into the ultimate sultry smokey eye.
For a softer look, you can add brown gel liner instead (shade 69 in Inglot’s AMC Gel liner )!
Remember: Always use matte shadows for more definition and keep your shimmer for the top lid.
And you’re done!
When it comes to pairing the look with lip shade, Aimee says: “It’s personal preference whether you want to go for a bold eye and bold lip, some are daring enough! Smokey eyes are best paired with a glossy nude lip to keep them the main feature focus on the eyes and skin.”
