The festive period is finally here – and if you’re planning on hosting a family get together, a friendly soirée, or simply a quiet night in with a loved one, you’re going to want to make sure you’ve got some delicious wine on hand.
Whether you’re into white or red (or both!), make sure you impress your guests this festive season with your wine selection… and your very own at-home wine cellar.
From crisp whites to fruity reds and celebratory bubbles, Lidl has everything you need.
Whether you’re a wine expert, or a complete novice, we’ve put together a handy guide to choosing the best bottles to uncork this Christmas season.
Impress your family and friends without the high price tag with five of Lidl’s highest quality seasonal wines – all for less than €50! Incredible value.
Take a look at some of our favourites below… and find out exactly when to serve them.
Christmas Morning Fizz
Fizz the season to start your day with a glass of festive bubbles on Christmas morning!
The Prosecco Spumante DOC (was €12.99, now €9.99) is a fresh, off-dry, lightly creamy and fruity fizz with notes of brioche, apple and pear.
This glass of bubbles is best paired with light canapes or as an aperitif before the main feast – delicious.
Christmas Dinner
There is no one size fits all when it comes to Christmas dinner, so be sure to offer your guests the choice of red or white wine.
For those who prefer whites, the Pouilly-Fume AOC (was €14.99, now €11.99) is a ripe, gently scented, floral white with aromas of grapefruit. It pairs magically with Lidl’s Fresh Irish Turkey from €8.99, available in-store from 20th December or Lidl’s Deluxe Centre-Cut Ham with Guinness Glaze at €15.99.
Lidl’s deep purple-red Malbec Uco Valley Argentina at €8.99 exhibits a bouquet of dark fruits such as blackberry and black cherry with notes cocoa, spice and tobacco which pack a real flavour punch to accompany your turkey, but it also complements Lidl’s Deluxe Irish Angus Striploin Joint (€19.99) perfectly.
After-Dinner Charcuterie Board
No Christmas is complete without a delicious charcuterie board accompanied by lots of crusty fresh breads from Lidl’s in-store bakery – our mouths are watering just thinking of it!
The perfect pairing for your cheeses and cured meats is the Chianti Reserva (was €10.99, now €8.79) – a well-balanced, ripe red with flavours of dark cherry, plum and blackberry with savoury undertones.
From tangy Deluxe Mature Blue Stilton to perfectly ripened Deluxe Tipperary Brie, you’ll find all your favourites at Lidl along with Deluxe Irish Crackers, relishes and all the fruits and nuts.
They pair perfectly with them all, and will add a little something extra when you’re hosting this year.
New Year’s Eve Sparkler
It wouldn’t be New Year’s Eve without some bubbles, and lucky for us, Lidl has a diverse range of Prosecco, Cava and Champagne in-store.
If you’re looking for something a little different to toast to 2024, the Moscato d’Asti at €9.99 is lightly sparkling, sweet wine with notes of lemon, mandarin orange, and pear.
It’s time to start celebrating!
The Showstopper
Looking to impress with something super special? Lidl has two show-stopping champagnes in store this year.
The Bissinger Blanc de Blanc at €36.99 is a bright, balanced fizz with hazelnut aromas and the Bissinger Champagne Premier Cru at €34.99 is a citrusy, crisp fizz with beautiful notes of brioche, apple and pear.
They’re sure to spark some magic at the table this year!
