Country singer Nathan Carter has opened up about what it’s like living with the status of being a ‘heartthrob’.
He plays it down a lot, calling it “a bit embarrassing”, and claiming that he doesn’t get as much female attention as people might think.
Speaking to RTE Ten he said, “I don’t really see that, to be honest, but it’s a big compliment and I suppose you just take it as it comes.”
The 25-year-old said that he loves to meet fans when he does gigs, and is getting back on the road next week to continue with his Stayin’ Up All Night tour.
“It’s always lovely to meet people who have made an effort to come and see you. After every gig if I’m allowed – there’s some venues which don’t allow you – I try to get out for an hour, if not more, and say ‘hello’.
“This summer we still have a lot of festivals and gigs to be doing. That’s the main thing for me – gigging. When I’m off I miss it. I don’t mind the travelling, and I enjoy meeting the people as well,” he said.
Nathan took home two RTE Irish Country Music Awards last month: Live Act of the Year and Ireland’s All-Time Favourite Country Song, for his hit Wagon Wheel.
