Daithi O’Se has opened up about being a working father, admitting that it’s very tough and he feels terribly guilty about leaving his son and wife as he commutes between Galway and Cork each day.

The Irish host revealed that being away from his wife Rita and two year old son Michael so much is very difficult, and something he hasn’t quite gotten used to.

“I totally feel guilty, people always talk about mothers, but father’s guilt is just as strong from my point of view. I would love to be at home all day with him, but I can’t because working is part of life.

“I do feel guilty and that I am missing out on his development. I have to get over myself because the mortgage has to be paid,” he told RSVP Magazine.

“The reality is that I have to go to work, but I am lucky because I don’t have to leave the house until 10/11am and I get to spend the morning with Mícheál Óg and Rita – and he is always in good form at that hour.

“He is in bed by the time I get home, but I also get to have time with him every weekend and you have to make every bit of time count as a parent.”

Meanwhile, Daithi previously admitting that expanding his brood is definitely something himself and Rita are thinking about.

Opening up to the Irish Mirror, he said, ““To be honest things are going really well at the moment with one and then if you’re going to have another one, you kind of say, ‘Will this upset the other thing or not’.

“So that’s what we’re kinda of talking about at the moment.”
