Acclaimed actor James McAvoy has said that he would love to star in a film about Olympic champs, the O’Donovan brothers.
It seems the boys’ proud Irish supporters aren’t the only ones who are obsessed with them.
James said he would love to star in a movie about the sportsmen with his X-men costar Michael Fassbender.
After the actors appeared on The Graham Norton Show alongside the Olympians, the two were left fascinated by Paul and Gary.
“We’ve been looking to do something else together that has heart, has action, has suspense, has comedy. Has Olympic medals. It’s a no-brainer,” James said.
The brothers are as known for their quick wit and hilarious comments, as they are for their hardwork and winning silver medals in the Olympics.
“I was just mesmerised by the O’Donovans. They sat on that couch and commanded focus.
“They were the funniest, coolest guys and just by being themselves, they sort of won over the world.”
“And even though yes, they are much younger than us, that’s what make-up and CGI magic is for.”
The Scottish actor doesn’t worry about mastering the thick Cork accents, as he reckons his own accent isn’t too dissimilar.
“They’re of the same family of Celtic sounds. Michael has the upper hand but I could handle it.”
We would definitely love to see this being made.
Here’s the brilliant episode that inspired it all!
