Holly Carpenter has joined Tinder, despite being impersonated on the app earlier this summer.
The model found out that she was being cat-fished on the dating app by someone living in Cork.
Writing in her column in The Irish Sun, Holly said, “After my ordeal where someone was impersonating me on Tinder, I decided to give the app a go. I thought I may as well set up an account, seeing as there are two fake accounts of me on it already.”
Holly sought help from the Gardai on the issue, however there’s only so much they can do for her.
“It seems to me that the guards have a lot on their plate, and I’m not really being taken seriously. They’re [the impersonator] technically not committing a crime even though they are impersonating me,” she explained.
Holly continued, “I met a really nice guard who is trying to help me out and get the account deactivated, but even if they deactivate the account, they’re still texting people pretending to be me so it’s embarrassing.”
Regardless of this, the Raheny native admits she’s enjoying the app, but doesn’t think she’ll find love from it.
“I don’t like the idea of meeting a complete stranger on a date. I just keep matching with guys I already know, just for the craic. I don’t really think it’s for me, but having said that, I still haven’t deactivated it,” she said.
