RTE travel show Getaways has been axed after nine years on air.
The show, hosted by rugby legend Tommy Bowe, DWTS winner Mairead Ronan, influencer Vogue Williams and BBC presenter Joe Lindsay is set on travel inspiration and shows viewers the best budget holidays for the year.
Now, RTE say they will not be showing the new season, with co-producers in the BBC (who also show Getaways) yet to make a statement.
“Getaways will not be shown by RTE next year. We have no plans to replace it. It is up to the BBC what they want to do with it.” a spokesperson for RTE explained.
Ireland’s Fittest Family presenter Mairead Ronan spoke about the surprise decision, saying this is the way things are going.
“There is a new show on, Celebrity Globetrotters, and a lot of shows are going that way, they’re not really presenter-led,” she told The Sunday World
“It was great fun to do but these things run their course.”
