Saoirse Ronan is the woman of the moment following her magnificent Golden Globes win.
The Carlow actress is tipped to win her first ever Oscar next month, and she continues to sweep up this award season for her role in Ladybird.
The 24-year-old accepted her Golden Globe award for best actress at the show in Beverly Hills last week, and a lot of people were asking the same question.
She pointed out a man in the audience who was Face-Timing her mother back home in Ireland, but why was she not at the ceremony?
Saoirse answered the burning question when she appeared on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon in the States last night.
“She’s not here right now because she’s looking after Fran,” she told Jimmy.
“She got a new puppy called Fran, she’s about a year and a half old now.
“Fran has become the priority for mam right now, she passed up on The Golden Globes to look after Fran. She loves Fran.
“Mam did say to me before that win, lose or draw she wants to be in the room with me. But my mate Eileen came with me this time.”
