We’ve been eagerly anticipating Maura Higgins‘ big-screen debut ever since word of the project first broke.

And now, it looks like we won’t have to wait much longer to see her in action.

Yes, Maura may have risen to fame on the small screen, but now the Love Island star is stepping onto the big screen in the Irish comedy The Spin, a film directed by Michael Head that premiered at the 2024 Belfast Film Festival and is now headed for cinemas.

But when can we expect to see it?

Well, according to The Spin’s writer Colin Broderick, the movie will be released in Irish cinemas this October.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Colin stated: “My third movie: The Spin, will open in Irish cinemas this October. Opening night will be in Omagh Oct 24.”

So, what’s The Spin all about?

The film is a heartwarming, semi-autobiographical story inspired by the life of Omagh native Mark McCausland.

It follows two down-on-their-luck record store owners — Elvis (Owen Colgan, Hardy Bucks) and Dermott (Brenock O’Connor, Game of Thrones) — as they embark on a cross-country road trip to Cork in search of a priceless record.

Their mission? To save their struggling business and avoid eviction by their villainous landlord, Sadie (Tara Lynne O’Neill, Derry Girls).

We had our first look at Maura as character Rose when the first official trailer was released back in October 2024.

And let’s just say fans can’t wait to see more of her!
